Skid Steer Driver Injured After Wild Chase with Mobile Police
Mobile, Alabama.— A dangerous confrontation unfolded Thursday morning in Tillmans Corner when Mobile police spotted a stolen skid steer that had been involved in an earlier incident where it was used to attempt to strike a citizen. According to a release from the Mobile Police Department, officers observed the vehicle around 10 a.m. at the intersection of Noble Drive and Noble Lane.
When police attempted to stop the skid steer, the driver responded by trying to hit one of the officers. The suspect then fled the scene, heading westbound on Interstate 10 near Highway 90.
Despite efforts to pull the vehicle over, the driver continued to evade authorities, eventually turning onto the eastbound lanes of I-10 while driving against traffic. The suspect exited the interstate at Exit 15B and headed back toward Highway 90. During the pursuit, a Mobile police vehicle was struck by the skid steer, sustaining significant damage.
The driver continued to aggressively target police vehicles, prompting officers to fire their weapons in response. The suspect was eventually injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
MPD officials stated that the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
