Mexican drug lord Ricardo González Sauceda, also known as “El Ricky,” has been captured in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, following calls from former President Trump for the Mexican government to take stronger action against cartel leaders.

The arrest has sparked violent clashes in the city, with reports of gunfights erupting in various parts of Nuevo Laredo.

Omar García Harfuch, Mexico’s Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, stated, “He is the leader of a criminal group responsible for generating violence across Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, and Coahuila. He is also linked to extortion activities and a series of attacks on Fuerza Civil police officers in Nuevo León.”

As tensions rise, government officials have been instructed to “shelter in place” amid the escalating violence.

El Ricky is the head of the “Cartel del Noreste” and was reportedly behind an attack on soldiers in Nuevo Laredo just a day before his arrest, according to @blogdelnarcomex. In that incident, three hitmen were killed and one was apprehended by authorities.
