Coyote pulled out of refrigerated shelf at Aldi

Chicago, Illinois.— A coyote that found its way into a grocery store in Humboldt Park was safely rescued Monday morning, authorities confirmed.

At approximately 9:40 a.m., local police responded to a report of a coyote trapped inside an Aldi supermarket located at 800 N. Kedzie Ave. Animal Care and Control (ACC) also arrived to assist with the situation. According to a police spokesperson, the animal was successfully removed without any injuries to the coyote or people involved.

Footage of the unusual scene, which quickly went viral on social media, shows two officers inside the store’s refrigerated section. Armed with a broom and dustpan, they carefully attempt to corral the animal. In one part of the video, an officer reaches into the fridge and grabs hold of the coyote’s tail, eventually managing to pull it out. However, as soon as the animal is freed, it springs back into the cold storage area, creating a brief moment of chaos.

Despite the coyote’s initial escape attempt, it was eventually secured and safely transported away from the scene. Authorities have not indicated how the animal entered the store, but they are working to ensure the area is secure to prevent future incidents.
